Over this happy location, the San Daniele Community has been able to create and preserve an important architectural and historical patrimony, thanks to his trading activities and to his craft and food productions, at first the famous delicate cured ham. However, different from other localities of the Friuli, the attraction of the architectural look of the urban centre rises more from the heterogeneity than from the historical homogeneity.

 In fact, having continuously maintained administration autonomy and a significant prosperity (together with San Vito al Tagliamento town, San Daniele was a feud of the Aquileia Patriarch until 1751, while the rest of the region became possession of Venice in 1420), the town has made along the centuries ever new buildings in the style of the moment interpolating them between the pre-existing buildings without consideration of the total scenographies, which however appear very nice thanks to the high construction quality of every single building.

As syntetically represented in the above-stated map, the principal monuments to be seen are:
- in the main square: the San Michele Duomo of 1770, with the front in neoclassical style and the interior in baroque style; the near Palace with open gallery and, in the first floor, the Guarneriana Library; a medieval house of 1300; some Renaissance buildings (NB. The Biblioteca Guarnerina, which preserves 12.000 ancient books of great value, is visitable, for a fee, only by groups of 10-30 people on booking: see www.guarneriana.it);
- in the upper side of the town: San Daniele in castello Church of 1500-1700. rich of finds dating back until the roman age; the neoclassical Ticozzi and De Concina palaces;
- along the main street (at West of the centre)): Sant’Antonio Abate Church in venetian-gothic style of 1300, with important frescos of Pellegrino da San Daniele of 1500; the Gate-tower (‘Portonat’) of Palladio of 1600; some palaces in various styles,
- in the old medieval quarter (at East of the centre): Santa Maria della Fratta Church of 1400, with tower of 1300; the historical staircase which comes up from 4 Novembre square (parking) to the panoramic balcony
- In the lower side: the Madonna di Strada Sanctuary of 1600; the former Convent-hospital which lodges the Territorial Museum with historical finds and art works, between them two wooden altars
- In the northern side: the art nouveau Villa Serravallo (public hall); some typical stone houses at West. 

Many and interesting are the touristic places in few kilometres all round San Daniele:
- 2 km at North-West, the peaceful morainic little lake of Ragogna-San Daniele, natural reserve
- 5 km at North, the ‘Acqua caduta’ fall at Cimano
- 3 km at North, the San Giovanni templar Chapel of 1000 in the San Tomaso hamlet of Majano
- 3 km at South-East, the Castle of Arcano Superiore (hamlet of Rive d’Arcano) of 1200
- 5 km at South-West (toward Dignano), the San Giacomo rural chapel of 1600 with interesting view on vast pebbly riverbank of Tagliamento
- 5 km at West, the San Pietro castle at Ragogna.
